“The Site Should Be Sealed”: Suvendu Adhikari on Chorbagan Stampede Investigation
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has said that the site of the stampede at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal should be sealed and preserved until a forensic examination is conducted.
Speaking about his planned visit to the incident site, Adhikari stressed that all necessary legal procedures must be followed and that evidence must remain undisturbed until forensic experts arrive.
“I am going to the site of the incident, and it should be sealed. A forensic examination should be conducted tomorrow morning, following proper legal procedures. Whatever the law requires should be followed,” the Chief Minister said.
CM Stresses Importance of Preserving Evidence
Adhikari said that, as the administrative head of the state, it was his responsibility to visit the site of the tragedy. However, he emphasised that his visit would not interfere with the investigation or compromise potential evidence.
“As the administrative head, I should visit the site of the incident. However, I will not take any action that could destroy evidence before the forensic team arrives. I will not do that,” he stated.
The Chief Minister's remarks underline the importance of preserving the scene and allowing forensic experts to carry out their examination in accordance with established legal procedures.
The incident at the Chorbagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal has prompted an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Authorities are expected to examine the available evidence to establish how the incident occurred and determine whether any negligence was involved.
