Tuchel Admits England 'Got Lucky' vs Norway

England head coach Thomas Tuchel welcomed his side's place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals but admitted their performance fell well below expectations following the dramatic quarter-final victory over Norway.

England came from behind to beat Norway 2-1 after extra time, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice to send the Three Lions into the last four.

Despite the result, Tuchel was far from satisfied with his team's display and insisted England cannot rely on fortune if they are to challenge for the World Cup title.

"We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today. The result is fantastic, we're in the last four, but I'm not happy with the performance. We got lucky today. We need to play better. We will get better, we need to get better," Tuchel said after the match.

England will now prepare for a crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final, knowing an improved performance will be required to keep their title hopes alive.
