Trump Declares US 'Guardian of Hormuz Strait'
US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will assume the role of "The Guardian of the Hormuz Strait," declaring that the strategic waterway will remain open for global shipping "with or without Iran."

In a post shared on social media, Trump said the US is reinstating what he called the "Iranian Blockade," stating that it would only restrict Iranian ships or customers from entering or leaving the Strait. He added that all other nations would continue to enjoy fair and open access to one of the world's busiest maritime trade routes.

Trump further stated that, as part of providing security and ensuring safe passage through the volatile region, the United States would seek reimbursement at a rate of 20% on all cargo shipped to cover operational costs. He said the process to establish the new arrangement would begin immediately.
The announcement comes amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, where the Hormuz Strait remains a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies and international commerce.
