Tuchel Backs Kane After England’s Ghana Stalemate
England manager Thomas Tuchel has dismissed suggestions that the Three Lions depend too heavily on captain Harry Kane following their goalless draw against Ghana in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Speaking after England's 0-0 Group L stalemate at Boston Stadium, Tuchel acknowledged Kane's importance to the team but stressed that England's attacking approach is not built solely around their star striker.
"We rely on Harry because we can, but we don't over-rely on him," Tuchel said while reflecting on his side's performance.
England dominated possession with 78 percent of the ball and completed 589 accurate passes but struggled to break down Ghana's disciplined defensive structure. The Black Stars employed a compact 5-4-1 system that effectively limited Kane's involvement in dangerous areas.
Despite the frustrating result, England remain level on four points with Ghana at the top of Group L. Midfielder Jude Bellingham was named Player of the Match after another influential display in the center of the park.
The Three Lions will now turn their attention to their final group-stage fixture against Panama, knowing a positive result could secure their place in the knockout rounds.
