WB Government Intensifies Industrial Investment Drive

The West Bengal government has intensified its efforts to attract fresh industrial investment, with a high-level meeting held at Nabanna on Monday to outline strategies for accelerating industrial growth and strengthening the state's economy.

According to administrative sources, a six-member ministerial panel, recently constituted by the state cabinet, has been entrusted with leading the government's investment outreach. The panel will engage with major industrial groups from India and abroad to promote West Bengal as an attractive destination for new investments.

A key focus of the meeting was the preparation of a comprehensive land bank blueprint, which will provide investors with organised information on land available for industrial projects. Officials believe the initiative will simplify project planning, speed up investment decisions and facilitate faster implementation of industrial ventures.

The panel also discussed ways to strengthen West Bengal's industrial ecosystem by engaging with business leaders on the state's industrial policy, tax incentives and other investor-friendly measures. Officials reviewed proposals for new incentive schemes aimed at encouraging greater private investment across sectors.

Another major agenda item was the implementation roadmap for industrial initiatives announced in the state budget.

The government emphasised improving coordination among departments, streamlining approvals and enhancing investor services to ensure timely execution of projects.

Officials said attracting new investments, creating employment opportunities, expanding industrial production and strengthening the state's economy remain among the government's top priorities. As part of this strategy, the ministerial panel will continue its outreach to industry stakeholders while highlighting West Bengal's infrastructure, policy support and growth potential to domestic and global investors.
