Piyush Goyal Meets Spain Leaders to Boost Trade Ties

Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal began his official engagements in Spain with a meeting with Carlos Cuerpo, First Vice President of the Government of Spain and Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Goyal said the discussions focused on expanding the India-Spain economic partnership through greater collaboration in trade, investment and technology. The leaders identified several priority sectors, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing, digital technologies, infrastructure and innovation, as key areas for future cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and explored ways to deepen business-to-business engagement while expanding India's commercial presence in Spain.

According to Goyal, the meeting reflected the shared commitment of both countries to strengthen economic ties, promote sustainable growth and create new opportunities for businesses and investors.

The discussions form part of India's broader efforts to enhance strategic economic partnerships with European nations and boost trade, investment and technology collaboration with Spain, a key partner in the European Union.
