West Bengal Statewide Programmes are set to include a series of major public events in September and October, with the state government announcing a mass lamp-lighting programme involving more than one crore families on September 17. The initiative will be held alongside the previously announced Annapurna Diwas, with the main programme in Kolkata planned along the Ganga ghats.

According to Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari, the September 17 programme will see more than one crore families across West Bengal participating by lighting lamps. The government also plans to highlight the social and economic changes experienced by beneficiary families through various welfare initiatives.

Schemes and programmes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Ayushman Bharat will be showcased as part of the event. Cycle rallies and bike rallies are also expected to be organised across different parts of the state.

September 17 Lamp-Lighting Programme Across West Bengal

A key component of the West Bengal Statewide Programmes will be the mass lamp-lighting event scheduled for September 17.

More than one crore families are expected to participate in the programme by lighting lamps. The main event will take place along the Ganga ghats in Kolkata, creating a large-scale public gathering linked with Annapurna Diwas.

The state government intends to use the programme to showcase the impact of welfare initiatives on beneficiary families. The focus will be on the changes that families have experienced through housing, drinking water and healthcare-related schemes.

Welfare Schemes to Be Highlighted

The government plans to highlight beneficiaries associated with several major welfare initiatives, including:

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana

Jal Jeevan Mission

Ayushman Bharat

The programmes are expected to highlight how beneficiaries have benefited from these initiatives and how their social and economic circumstances have changed.

Cycle and Bike Rallies

As part of the September 17 celebrations, cycle rallies and bike rallies will also be organised across West Bengal.

These activities will form part of the wider statewide programme and are expected to connect different districts with the central celebrations.

October 7 ‘Seva Setu’ Programme to Mark PM Modi’s 25 Years in Public Office

Another major component of the West Bengal Statewide Programmes calendar is the ‘Seva Setu’ programme scheduled for October 7.

Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari said the statewide programme will mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years since he first became Chief Minister of Gujarat and subsequently served as Prime Minister.

The programme will be organised at the headquarters of every district in West Bengal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the districts as part of the initiative.

The October 7 programme is expected to bring together district-level events under a common statewide framework.

District Headquarters to Host Seva Setu

Under the proposed plan, district headquarters across West Bengal will host the ‘Seva Setu’ programme.
