Zubeen Garg First Death Anniversary is being observed across Assam on September 19, with people, artistes, organisations and political parties paying tribute to the late singer and cultural icon.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma remembered Zubeen Garg on the occasion and participated in a blood donation drive organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in his memory.

Zubeen Garg died in Singapore on September 19, 2025. His first death anniversary is being marked across Assam through cultural programmes, memorial events and public-service initiatives.

Zubeen Garg First Death Anniversary Marked Across Assam

The Zubeen Garg First Death Anniversary has brought together people across Assam to remember the singer's contribution to Assamese music and culture. Several programmes have been organised across the state, while admirers have gathered at Zubeen Kshetra in Sonapur to pay their respects.

A three-day commemorative programme, including cultural activities, prayers, Bhagawat Naam and Bhaona, has also been organised at Zubeen Kshetra.

Zubeen Garg remained one of Assam's most prominent musical personalities, with a career spanning more than three decades. According to Akashvani News, he recorded more than 40,000 songs across nearly 40 languages and dialects during his career.

Himanta Biswa Sarma Donates Blood

On the occasion of Zubeen Garg First Death Anniversary, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma participated in the BJP's statewide blood donation initiative.

Sarma visited the BJP headquarters in Basistha, Guwahati, and donated blood as part of the programme. Assam minister Keshab Mahanta and BJP workers were also present at the event.

Speaking about the occasion, Sarma said that Zubeen Garg was an icon for the people of Assam and a beloved figure among Assamese people. He said that people across the state had observed the day through different programmes and initiatives.

Sarma also said that the BJP had organised blood donation camps as a tribute to the late singer and that he personally donated blood along with members of his cabinet. According to his statement, MPs, MLAs and party workers also participated in blood donation activities across Assam.
