Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a heartfelt message on social media as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) formed its first-ever government in West Bengal.

Reflecting on the historic moment, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, acknowledging his immense contribution to the nation and particularly to West Bengal. Modi emphasized that the BJP government is committed to fulfilling Mookerjee’s vision and ideals.

“Today, as the first ever BJP Government takes oath in West Bengal, it is natural for all of us to remember Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and his everlasting contribution to the nation and West Bengal in particular. No stone will be left unturned to fulfil his vision,” the Prime Minister stated.

During the swearing-in ceremony held in Kolkata, Modi also met Makhanlal Sarkar, a devoted nationalist who worked closely with Dr. Mookerjee. Sarkar had accompanied Mookerjee during his historic movement in Jammu and Kashmir and was even arrested alongside him.
