Abhay Singh Clinches Silver Medal in Men’s Singles Squash at Asian Games 2026

Indian squash star Abhay Singh capped a memorable campaign at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 with a silver medal in the men’s singles event.

The 28-year-old Indian faced Malaysia’s defending champion and top seed Eain Yow Ng in the summit clash on Sunday. Despite a determined challenge from Abhay, the Malaysian maintained his composure to win the final in straight games, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5.

Abhay began the opening game strongly and showed excellent resilience after falling 3-6 behind. Precise drop shots and deep drives helped him level the contest at 8-8. He also saved a game point at 8-10 before Eain Yow eventually closed out the game 11-9.

The Malaysian carried that momentum into the second game, establishing an early 6-3 advantage. His deceptive length and consistent court coverage made it difficult for Abhay to regain control, as Eain Yow took the game 11-5.

Abhay refused to give up in the third game and briefly moved ahead 5-3. However, Eain Yow responded with eight unanswered points to complete the 11-5 victory and successfully defend his Asian Games title.

The silver medal adds another significant achievement to Abhay Singh’s growing international record. His recent successes include gold at the 2025 SDAT Squash World Cup in Chennai, as well as title victories at the 2026 Indian Open and Tuanku Muhriz Trophy.

Abhay’s podium finish in Nagoya further highlights India’s growing presence in international squash as the sport looks ahead to its historic Olympic debut at LA28.
