Adhir Chowdhury condemns alleged insult to Mamata Banerjee at Victoria memorial

by Kolkata Today

Pradesh Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury condemned the alleged insult done to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday at the program observed to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the Victoria Memorial ground. “Mamata Banerjee is the Chief Minister of West Bengal and more importantly a woman. She has been invited to attend the event. And hence her dignity should have been protected in public especially in presence of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The yelling of Jai Shri Ram while she stood up the dias is a manipulative step by BJP. I may have political differences with Trinamool Congress but such mockery to a state’s Chief Minister and a woman is unconstitutional and I strongly oppose to it.”. It is said that when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was called to speak on the dias , a mob of BJP supporters called out Jao Shri Ram in reaction to which CM decided not to speak thereby opposing the gesture as a sheer conspired insult to her.
