AIADMK protests are being held across Tamil Nadu on Friday, with the party demanding a complete waiver of farmers’ crop loans and raising concerns over the Cauvery water dispute.

The demonstrations are being organised at district headquarters across the state as part of the AIADMK’s campaign highlighting farmers’ welfare and issues related to Tamil Nadu’s share of Cauvery water.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) will lead the party’s main demonstration at the Head Post Office in Thanjavur. The protest is scheduled to begin at around 9:30 am.

EPS to Lead Main Protest in Thanjavur

Palaniswami is expected to address party workers, farmers and supporters gathered at the Thanjavur venue. The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister is likely to highlight the party’s demands concerning agricultural loans and the Cauvery water dispute.

The Thanjavur demonstration is being positioned as the main event of the statewide protest programme, with similar demonstrations taking place at district headquarters across Tamil Nadu.

The AIADMK has sought a complete waiver of crop loans for farmers, arguing that financial relief is necessary to address the challenges faced by the agricultural community.

Party Raises Cauvery Water Concerns

Alongside the farm loan waiver demand, the Cauvery water issue is another major focus of the AIADMK protests.

The party has expressed concern over developments concerning the proposed water-related project in neighbouring Karnataka and has accused the government of failing to take adequate steps to protect Tamil Nadu’s share of Cauvery water.

The dispute over the sharing and utilisation of Cauvery waters has remained a major political and inter-state issue involving Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Protests Planned at District Headquarters

The AIADMK has called for demonstrations at district headquarters throughout Tamil Nadu. Party workers, farmers and supporters are expected to participate in the programmes.

The protests are intended to draw attention to the party’s demands on agricultural debt relief and water security.

The AIADMK has also criticised the government over what it describes as inadequate action on the Cauvery issue. The party is demanding stronger measures to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests in the inter-state water dispute.

Focus on Farmers’ Welfare

Farmers’ welfare is expected to remain at the centre of the AIADMK campaign. The demand for a complete crop loan waiver is aimed at providing relief to farmers facing financial pressures.

The party has sought to use the statewide protests to highlight what it considers key concerns affecting the agricultural sector.

At the Thanjavur protest, Palaniswami is expected to outline the AIADMK’s position on both the loan waiver demand and the Cauvery water issue.

AIADMK Protests Seek Government Action
The AIADMK protests across Tamil Nadu are designed to put pressure on the government to address the party’s demands.

With demonstrations planned across the state, the opposition party is seeking to mobilise farmers and its cadre around two major issues—agricultural loan relief and protection of Tamil Nadu’s Cauvery water rights.

The developments are likely to keep both farmers’ welfare and the Cauvery dispute in focus in Tamil Nadu’s political discourse.

Key Demands of the AIADMK

The statewide protests centre on:

Complete waiver of farmers’ crop loans.
Stronger action on the Cauvery water dispute.
Protection of Tamil Nadu’s share of Cauvery water.
Greater attention to farmers’ welfare.

Action on water-related developments in neighbouring Karnataka.

The AIADMK’s statewide mobilisation marks another effort by the opposition party to raise agricultural and water-related concerns across Tamil Nadu.
