Amit Shah Inaugurates Shabd Sangrahalaya at National Library in Kolkata

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated the first phase of 'Shabd Sangrahalaya' at the National Library of India in Kolkata, describing it as a significant step towards preserving India's rich linguistic and cultural heritage.

Sharing the update on social media, Shah said the initiative reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote cultural resurgence and strengthen India's civilisational legacy.

The newly inaugurated museum showcases 22 Indian languages and dialects and features nine state-of-the-art digital galleries, designed to celebrate the country's linguistic diversity and knowledge traditions.

According to the Home Minister, the museum will serve as a powerful platform to preserve and pass on India's languages, culture and intellectual heritage to future generations. He added that the facility will also benefit language enthusiasts, researchers, educators and students from across the country.

The Shabd Sangrahalaya is expected to emerge as a major cultural and educational destination, highlighting India's multilingual identity through immersive digital experiences while promoting research and appreciation of the nation's diverse linguistic traditions.
