Amit Shah Reviews Bengal Law & Order, Announces Key Security Measures

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting in Kolkata with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and senior state officials to assess the state's law and order situation and discuss measures to strengthen internal security.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Shah said the West Bengal government will launch a women's outreach programme in rural areas aimed at enhancing women's safety and security across the state.

The Home Minister also announced that West Bengal will establish a Special Investigation Agency (SIA) on the lines of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to further strengthen the state's internal security framework and improve its response to serious crimes.

According to Shah, the meeting also focused on accelerating the removal of encroachments along border areas, modernising the state police force and reinforcing cybersecurity infrastructure to address emerging security challenges.

The review meeting reflects the Centre and the state government's emphasis on improving public safety, strengthening border management and enhancing policing capabilities through institutional reforms and technological upgrades.
