West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Sunday at a programme here on the International Mother Language Day,”Don’t try to intimidate us with jail, we have fought against guns and are not afraid of fighting against rats”.
“As long as there is life in me, I will not be afraid of any intimidation,” Mamata Banerjee said.
“Let there be challenge in 21, let us see whose strength is more; there will be only one game in 21 and I will be the goalkeeper in that match and want to see who wins and who loses,” Mamata Banerjee said.
“We have not learnt to lose and they won’t be able to defeat us,” Mamata Banerjee said without naming anyone.
““We accept all challenges. In the year 2021, a game will be played. I will be the goalkeeper. Let us see who wins. Even if I am put behind bars, I will give call for ‘Joy Bangla’ like ‘Bangabandhu’,” Mamata Banerjee said, participating in an event to observe International Mother Language Day.
‘Joy Bangla’ was the slogan used by “Bangabandhu”, the founder of Bangladesh, Mujib-ur- Rahman. “Khela hobe (let the game be played)” is another slogan that is being echoed in West Bengal’s political circles, both by the ruling Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to challenge each other in the upcoming electoral contest.
