India’s Mixed 4×100m Relay Team Wins Bronze, Sets National Record

India’s track and field squad delivered a landmark performance at the 2026 Asian Games as the Mixed 4×100m relay quartet broke the national record en route to a bronze medal on Tuesday.

The Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Development athletes—Gurindervir Singh, Sneha S. S., Animesh Kujur and Harita Bhadra—clocked an impressive 41.06 seconds in the final.

Their performance improved the previous Indian national record of 41.35 seconds, set at the World Relays, by 0.29 seconds.

China secured the gold medal with a time of 40.78 seconds, while Thailand took silver after finishing in 40.87 seconds.

All four Indian sprinters are members of the TOPS Development group, which is aimed at nurturing emerging athletes and preparing them for major international competitions.

The bronze medal also marked India’s 50th overall medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, underlining the progress of the country’s sprinting talent on the continental stage.
