Bullseye for Gold: Indian Women’s Compound Archery Trio Retains Asian Games Title with Equal-World Record Score

India’s women’s compound archery team delivered a composed and record-equalling performance to secure the gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games, successfully defending the country’s title in the event.

The trio of Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi defeated China 238–234 in a high-quality final at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park venue.

India’s 238-point total, from a maximum possible 240 in the 24-arrow match, also matched the existing world record, originally set by South Korea in 2014.

Golden Performance Under Pressure

The Indian trio maintained their composure throughout the summit clash, producing the consistency and accuracy required to stay ahead of a strong Chinese challenge.

China finished with 234 points to take the silver medal, while South Korea claimed bronze after defeating Chinese Taipei 234–230 in the third-place playoff.

Jyothi Adds Another Asian Games Gold
Veteran archer Jyothi Surekha Vennam added another major achievement to her decorated Asian Games career.

After winning three gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games — in the individual, team and mixed team events — Jyothi secured her fourth Asian Games gold medal with another outstanding team performance.

Chikitha Shines on Asian Games Debut
Chikitha Taniparthi, competing at her first Asian Games, showed remarkable composure on the biggest stage. She had already topped the individual qualification round and continued her strong form during the knockout stages.

Prithika Delivers When It Matters
Asian Games debutant Prithika Pradeep also produced crucial performances throughout the competition. Her contribution in the semifinal and final helped India maintain its advantage and complete another successful title defence.

The victory further underlines India’s growing strength in compound archery and adds another Asian Games gold medal to the country’s impressive campaign at Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
