CM Suvendu Adhikari Highlights Major Push for Border Security, Healthcare and Infrastructure in Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has highlighted a series of development, welfare and national security initiatives being implemented in the state under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking on the progress of key projects, the Chief Minister said the state government is working closely with the Border Security Force (BSF) to strengthen security along India's international borders. According to Adhikari, nearly 100 kilometers of land has already been handed over to the BSF, with the transfer process continuing on a daily basis.
He noted that fencing work has already commenced in strategically important areas of North Bengal, particularly near the Siliguri Corridor, commonly known as the "Chicken's Neck," which connects India's northeastern states with the rest of the country.
"National security is a top priority, and we are committed to completing these projects in a time-bound manner," Adhikari said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted progress on several major welfare and infrastructure initiatives. He announced that a ₹39,000 crore agreement has been signed under the Jal Jeevan Mission to expand access to safe drinking water across West Bengal.
On healthcare, Adhikari said the state has finalized the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, with approximately 1.43 crore families identified as beneficiaries. The initiative is expected to provide enhanced healthcare coverage and financial protection to millions of residents.
The state government has also adopted the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, aimed at promoting rooftop solar power installations and reducing electricity expenses for economically weaker households.
In addition, Adhikari said the government has accelerated several administrative measures, including processes related to census implementation and public service delivery, which he said had faced delays in the past.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the benefits of the "double-engine government" model are beginning to reach citizens and will become increasingly visible through improved infrastructure, stronger social welfare coverage and enhanced national security measures.
