The Congress on Wednesday paid rich tributes to India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on his death anniversary, remembering his role in shaping modern India and his enduring legacy of democracy, secularism, and scientific progress.

Senior Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, offered floral tributes at Nehru’s memorial, Shanti Van, in New Delhi.

In a post on social media, Rahul Gandhi described Nehru as the architect of modern India and said his contributions laid the foundation for an inclusive, harmonious, and progressive nation. He emphasized that Nehru’s visionary leadership based on liberty, democratic values, constitutional rights, social justice, and scientific temper would continue to inspire generations.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also paid tribute, highlighting that Nehru’s legacy continues to strengthen India’s commitment to democracy, secularism, peace, and national unity. Kharge referred to him as “Hind Ke Jawahar” and praised his lifelong dedication to truth and nation-building.

The Congress party, through its official social media handle, remembered Nehru as the “architect of modern India,” with the nation marking the death anniversary of India’s first and longest-serving Prime Minister, who passed away in office in 1964.
