Suvendu Adhikari Calls for District Holding Centres for Illegal Infiltrators, Urges Swift Deportation

West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari made strong remarks on the issue of illegal infiltrators, calling for the establishment of holding centres in every district and urging swift action under the existing Foreigners Act.

Addressing the matter, Adhikari said that the proposal is not based on any new legislation but falls under the current legal framework. He stressed that individuals identified as Bangladeshi citizens should be sent back, stating that it is Bangladesh’s responsibility to accept its nationals. Referring to reports on social media and online platforms, he claimed that Bangladesh had previously indicated a willingness to take back Bangladeshi citizens.

He further stated that such individuals should not be sent to prisons, questioning the use of public resources for their maintenance. Emphasizing stricter enforcement, Adhikari said the government should take necessary action if those identified as illegal infiltrators do not leave.

The remarks come amid continuing political debate over illegal immigration, border security, and citizenship-related issues, which remain major talking points in national and state-level politics.
