Crude Oil, LPG and Natural Gas Supplies Stable, Government Reassures Nation
The Government of India has reassured citizens that supplies of crude oil, LPG, and natural gas remain stable despite recent developments in West Asia, with adequate fuel stocks available across the country.
Speaking during an Inter-Ministerial Briefing on Recent Developments in West Asia, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that India's energy supply chain remains secure and uninterrupted. She emphasized that refineries are operating at optimum capacity and sufficient reserves of petrol and diesel are available to meet domestic demand.
Addressing concerns over potential disruptions due to geopolitical developments in the region, Sharma noted that India's fuel distribution network continues to function smoothly, ensuring uninterrupted access to essential energy supplies.
She also highlighted the growing efficiency of India's LPG distribution system. According to the Ministry, nearly 99 percent of LPG bookings are now being made through online platforms, while 96 percent of cylinder deliveries are completed using the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system, enhancing transparency and service reliability.
Providing operational data, Sharma revealed that over the last three days, oil marketing companies delivered approximately 1.43 crore LPG cylinders against 1.5 crore bookings nationwide. Additionally, 19,372 tonnes of commercial LPG were sold during the same period, reflecting strong supply chain performance.
The government reiterated its commitment to closely monitoring global developments while ensuring that India's energy security remains protected. Officials stressed that there is no immediate concern regarding fuel availability and that all necessary measures are in place to maintain stable supplies across the country.
The briefing comes amid heightened attention on energy markets due to geopolitical developments in West Asia, a region that plays a crucial role in global oil and gas supplies.
