Jaishankar Says Ukraine Conflict Needs Dialogue, Diplomacy
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said the ongoing Ukraine conflict cannot be resolved through economic measures involving oil, minerals, metals or fertilisers, stressing that dialogue, diplomacy and negotiations are the way forward.
Responding to a question on whether India would reduce its purchases of Russian oil if the United States approves sanctions against countries buying Russian crude, Jaishankar said the conflict, now in its fifth year, would ultimately have to be resolved through diplomatic engagement.
Jaishankar emphasised that India encourages efforts focused on dialogue and negotiation to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
