Donna Vekić Completes Fairytale Run to Capture Queen's Club Title

Donna Vekic produced one of the most remarkable stories of the 2026 tennis season, defeating British No. 1 Emma Raducanu 6-0, 7-6(6) to win the Queen’s Club Championships (HSBC Championships) in London. The Croatian delivered a dominant display in the opening set before holding her nerve in a tightly contested second-set tiebreak to secure the biggest title of her career.

What makes the triumph even more extraordinary is Vekic's route to the trophy. After losing in the qualifying rounds, she entered the main draw as a lucky loser and went on to complete a dream run to the championship. The victory marks her fifth career WTA singles title and her first-ever WTA 500 crown, capping off a sensational week on the grass courts of Queen's Club.

While Raducanu battled back strongly after a difficult first set and pushed the second set to a tiebreak in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, Vekic's experience and composure proved decisive in the closing stages. The title is expected to propel the former World No. 19 from No. 76 back into the top 35 of the live rankings, providing a significant boost ahead of Wimbledon.

For Raducanu, the runner-up finish nevertheless represents an encouraging step forward as she continues to build momentum on grass. For Vekic, however, the week belongs entirely to her—a stunning transformation from qualifying disappointment to Queen's Club champion, cementing one of the most memorable victories of the year.
