EAM Jaishankar Discusses ‘Make in India’ Opportunities with Sumitomo CEO
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with Shingo Ueno, CEO of Sumitomo Corporation, in New Delhi and discussed expanding Japanese business participation in India's economic growth and modernization initiatives.

Sharing details of the meeting on social media, Dr. Jaishankar said he was pleased to meet Shingo Ueno and exchange views on emerging opportunities for Japanese companies in India.
The External Affairs Minister appreciated Sumitomo Corporation's commitment to the Government of India's flagship "Make in India" initiative, which aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and attract global investments.
Jaishankar noted that Sumitomo can make an important contribution toward achieving the ambitious target of ¥10 trillion in Japanese investment in India over the next decade. The discussion also focused on strengthening India-Japan economic cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration across key sectors.
The meeting underscores the growing strategic and economic partnership between India and Japan, with both countries seeking to deepen investment, technology transfer, manufacturing, infrastructure development, and industrial cooperation.
