Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described the Chabahar Port project as a major symbol of cooperation between India and Iran, expressing hope that India will continue playing a key role in its development despite challenges posed by US sanctions.
Responding to repoter’s question on Chabahar Port, Araghchi said that Indian participation has been crucial in developing the strategically important port. He noted that progress has slowed due to sanctions imposed by the United States but emphasized that Chabahar has the potential to become a “golden gate” for India to access Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe through a major transit corridor.
The Iranian Foreign Minister also highlighted the importance of the route for global trade, saying it would help countries from Central Asia and Europe access the Indian Ocean more efficiently.
Araghchi further praised India’s diplomatic standing in the region, stating that India’s good relations with countries across the Persian Gulf position it as a constructive force for promoting diplomacy, peace, and regional security.
He added that Iran appreciates any positive and constructive role played by India in the region and expressed confidence that continued cooperation on Chabahar Port would benefit not only India and Iran, but several countries connected through the trade corridor.
