On Tuesday, the trailer for Sunny Leone’s forthcoming action-thriller web series Anamika was released. Sunny plays a rogue spy in the series, which is directed by Vikram Bhatt and also stars Samir Soni, Sonnalli Seygall, Rahul Dev, Shehzad Shaikh, and Ayaz Khan. Some fans were pleased by the teaser, which saw Sunny fighting villains and performing action scenes, while others were perplexed by the series’ resemblance to various Hollywood blockbusters.

Sunny‘s Anamika is shown in the trailer having a calm life and even planning to marry. After that, we witness a government officer (Rahul Dev) uncover her existence and explain that she was “one of the best agents and she has gone wrong.” The powers that be determine that she must be removed because she knows too much about powerful people. The video then shifts into high gear, with Anamika retaliating against her pursuers in a montage peppered with action sequences and gunfire.

Several fans praised Sunny’s new action avatar in response to the trailer. “You’re on fire this time, Sunny,” one person wrote. Many others, however, pointed out parallels between the trailer and a variety of Hollywood spy thrillers, ranging from Salt to the Bourne trilogy. “Sasti (cheap) replica of Jason Bourne,” one user said. “Yeh kiski copy hai,” remarked another.

Beginning March 10, the eight-episode series will be available on MX Player. Sunny Leone stated in a statement on the film’s release, “Action is a genre that I haven’t really explored in the past, and when I read the screenplay of Anamika, I was both amazed and eager to portray this power filled character under the direction of the extremely talented Vikram Bhatt.” It’s been a fantastic experience to be prepared for my role and to interact with the complete group. “I can’t wait to hear what the audience thinks of the series.”
