Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea cruised into the fourth round of the FA Cup with five different players finding the net and two more handed their debuts.
Chesterfield proved plucky National League opponents and would have the final say, but the result was never in doubt from the moment Timo Werner fired into an empty net with five minutes on the clock.
What a cup run it was for @ChesterfieldFC… 👏

Callum Hudson-Odoi scored the goal of the game from distance and we were 3-0 up before the midway point of the half, Romelu Lukaku converting 17-year-old debutant Lewis Hall’s centre. It was a Hall shot that resulted in our fourth of the day as half-time approached, Andreas Christensen in the right place at the right time to guide his header in.

The second period was a more disjointed affair, with half the outfield players replaced at various stages. One who wasn’t, Hakim Ziyech, made it 5-0 with a penalty awarded for a foul on Christian Pulisic.

Chesterfield sub Akwasi Asante put his name up in lights when he tapped into an empty net with 10 minutes left after a very good save from our other debutant, Marcus Bettinelli.
Lewis Hall,17 years and 122 days, the youngest player to start an FA Cup game for Chelsea.
The 17-year-old was handed his first senior appearance by Thomas Tuchel for the visit of the non-league Spireites, deployed in a slightly unfamiliar left centre-back position, but a composed performance that belied his young years left supporters, pundits and his manager purring.
Hall had a hand in two of our four first-half goals, teeing up Romelu Lukaku to make it 3-0 after 20 minutes before a low shot was parried into the path of Andreas Christensen moments before the break, the Dane guiding a looping header into the far corner for our fourth.
Lewis Hall said ,”Ever since I was a kid here at Chelsea, this is what I’ve worked towards so to finally get the opportunity is an amazing feeling and to do it in front of my family and all the fans here at Stamford Bridge is just incredible.”
After the match Chelsea Thomas Tuchel said, “I’m happy with the attitude and how we started. We started strong and decided the match very early. This is what we wanted.”
'Very professional.' 👏
