1 lakh drivers will get relief daily
Let us tell you, in the year 2016, approval was given to build 8 flyovers on Sarkhej-Gandhinagar highway. A budget of Rs 867 crore was allocated for this. All these bridges were to be constructed in 2020. But, due to the lockdown imposed after Corona, only two bridges could be ready. The third had little work left. Which was launched today. This is a 1.5 km long bridge connecting Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad, which will benefit about 1 lakh commuters daily.
Gandhinagar can be reached from Ahmedabad in just 20 to 25 minutes
National Highway Authority of India is building eight six-lane bridges on SG Highway to connect Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar. Out of which five flyovers have become operational. At the same time, the work of another bridge is expected to be completed in the next two months. In this way, after the construction of all the 8 over bridges, the journey of about 40 km from Ahmedabad to Gandhinagar can be completed in 20 to 25 minutes. Right now it takes 40 to 45 minutes due to traffic.
The project is divided into four parts
The renovation of National Highway-147 Sarkhej-Gandhinagar-Chiloda (SG Highway) road has been divided into four projects. This includes widening the main road from four lanes to six lanes and building flyovers where it is not possible. Due to this, 6 flyovers are to be built between Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar.
