The Government of West Bengal has officially notified through a gazette that the current State Legislative Assembly will continue until May 7, 2026, after which it will stand dissolved as per constitutional provisions. West Bengal Assembly to be dissolved on May 7, 2026, as per official gazette. Fresh elections to be held for forming a new legislative assembly. Following this, fresh General Elections will be conducted to constitute a new Legislative Assembly in the state. The directive comes under the authority of the Governor of West Bengal, who has instructed all Assembly constituencies to elect their representatives in accordance with the law. The announcement sets the stage for a crucial electoral process in the state, with political parties expected to begin preparations for the upcoming polls.
