Gujarat Is Rapidly Emerging as India’s Semiconductor Hub’: Bhupendra Patel

The discussions focused on Seoul Semiconductor’s plans to establish an optical semiconductor joint venture in India under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0.

According to Patel, Seoul Semiconductor has an impressive portfolio of more than 18,000 patents and advanced capabilities spanning the 100–1200 nanometer spectrum. The proposed joint venture could further strengthen India’s optical semiconductor and high-tech manufacturing ecosystem.

Patel said Gujarat is rapidly emerging as a major semiconductor hub, supported by world-class infrastructure and proactive facilitation for global high-tech manufacturing.

He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating an environment conducive to semiconductor investments and positioning Gujarat as an important destination for global technology companies.

The proposed investment comes as India continues to expand its semiconductor manufacturing and technology ecosystem through initiatives such as the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0.
