“Need Now Is to Scale Up”: Naidu Highlights Dornier 228’s Role in Northeast Connectivity
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said HAL’s Dornier 228 is strengthening regional air connectivity in the Northeast by connecting Guwahati with Itanagar. He highlighted the aircraft’s role in serving challenging terrains and stressed the need to expand such connectivity to more Himalayan and hilly regions.
The Dornier 228, originally developed to support India’s defence forces, is now contributing to civilian regional connectivity. The initiative aims to improve access to remote areas and strengthen air links across difficult-to-reach regions of the country.
