Historic Triumph: Harsh Singh Clinches Gold in Men's -60kg Judo at Commonwealth Games 2026

Indian judoka Harsh Singh created history by winning the gold medal in the men's -60kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026, becoming the first Indian male judoka to achieve the feat at the Games.

The 23-year-old delivered a composed and tactical performance to defeat Australia's Joshua Katz in the final. Despite facing relentless early attacks, Harsh remained calm, defended brilliantly, and turned the contest in his favour with a decisive Waza-Ari at the 3:19 mark before successfully holding off Katz's late challenge to secure a memorable victory.

Harsh enjoyed an outstanding debut Commonwealth Games campaign. He defeated Chikondi Kathewera (Malawi) by Ippon in the Round of 16, overcame Alan Monthouel (Vanuatu) by Ippon in the quarterfinal, and edged past Pedro Carlos Antun Neto (Australia) via Waza-Ari in the semifinal before clinching gold.

The victory completed a historic day for Indian judo after Asmita Dey earlier won gold in the women's -48kg category, giving India its first-ever Commonwealth Games judo gold medals in both men's and women's events on the same day.
