PM Modi Congratulates Harsh Singh on Historic CWG Judo Gold

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Indian judoka Harsh Singh after the 23-year-old scripted history by becoming the first Indian male judoka to win a Commonwealth Games gold medal.

Sharing his message on social media, the Prime Minister hailed Harsh's landmark achievement and praised his commitment to the sport.

"Historic Day for Indian Judo! Congrats to Harsh Singh for winning a Gold. His passion and dedication are clearly reflected in the exceptional performance. Best wishes for the upcoming endeavours."

Harsh Singh claimed the gold medal in the men's -60kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating Australia's Joshua Katz in the final with a composed and tactical display.

Harsh's triumph also helped India strengthen its medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026, underlining the country's growing success across multiple sporting disciplines.
The Prime Minister's congratulatory message has been widely appreciated by sports fans and the judo community, celebrating a defining moment in the history of Indian judo.
