India-Indonesia Joint Commission Meets in New Delhi; Jaishankar Highlights Stronger Bilateral Ties
The India-Indonesia Joint Commission Meeting is currently underway in New Delhi, with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono co-chairing the high-level discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Jaishankar noted that the Joint Commission is convening after a gap of four years and emphasized that substantial progress has been made in India-Indonesia relations during this period.
Highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two nations, Dr. Jaishankar recalled that India and Indonesia celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2025. He stressed that the milestone reflects the enduring friendship and shared commitment of both countries toward regional stability, economic growth, and deeper people-to-people ties.
The meeting is expected to review cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including trade, investment, defense, maritime security, connectivity, education, culture, and regional cooperation under the Indo-Pacific framework.
India and Indonesia share a longstanding relationship rooted in historical, cultural, and strategic ties, with both countries playing key roles in shaping the future of the Indo-Pacific region.
The Joint Commission Meeting is expected to further strengthen collaboration and chart a roadmap for expanding bilateral engagement in the years ahead.
