Speaking at an event organised by the Toy Association of India in New Delhi, Sitharaman said the country's focus on quality manufacturing and self-reliance has significantly strengthened the sector.
She noted that toy imports have declined by 71% since 2019, reflecting the success of policies aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing, improving quality standards, and reducing dependence on imported products.
Highlighting the industry's future potential, the Finance Minister said India's toy market is projected to reach $5 billion by 2034. However, she stressed that the country's ambition should extend beyond domestic growth to securing a much larger share of the expanding global toy market.
Sitharaman encouraged the industry to continue innovating, maintaining high quality standards, and strengthening India's position as a global hub for toy manufacturing under the vision of an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
