Indiaβs External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar has expressed deep concern over the situation in the Gulf during a meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He reaffirmed Indiaβs commitment to dialogue, diplomacy and the uninterrupted flow of trade, energy and fertiliser supplies.
India Backs Dialogue and Diplomacy
Delivering his opening remarks during the meeting, Jaishankar said the evolving situation in the Gulf remained a matter of deep concern. He emphasised that India would continue to work with the UAE and support all efforts aimed at promoting dialogue and diplomacy.
The External Affairs Minister also underlined the importance of maintaining the free, safe and unimpeded movement of trade, energy and fertiliser supplies, highlighting their significance for regional stability and economic security.
Jaishankar Thanks UAE Leadership for Supporting Indians
Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and, through him, the UAE leadership for ensuring the well-being of the Indian community living in the Emirates.
The statement underscores the importance India attaches to its close partnership with the UAE, particularly amid concerns over regional security, energy supplies, trade routes and the welfare of Indian nationals in the Gulf.
India and the UAE maintain extensive economic, diplomatic and people-to-people ties, with the Indian community forming a significant part of the UAEβs expatriate population.
