PM Takaichi: Japan-India Ties Reach New Heights
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has hailed the Japan-India Economic Forum as a milestone in strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, highlighting the signing of 129 cooperation agreements between businesses and organisations from both countries during her official visit to India.
Sharing details of the event on social media, Takaichi said she attended the forum alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event brought together more than 150 Japanese companies, over 80 Indian companies, and senior government officials from both nations.

The Japanese Prime Minister said the discussions reaffirmed expanding cooperation in key sectors such as energy, manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, and other advanced industries. She also noted the growing role of startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in driving the next phase of India-Japan economic collaboration.
Takaichi further announced that construction has begun on Assam's first biogas plant under the Japan-India CBG (Compressed Biogas) Initiative, which was agreed upon during the summit between the two leaders. She described the project as an important step towards promoting clean energy and sustainable development.
Emphasising the broader strategic vision, Takaichi said Japan and India would continue expanding their partnership under the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) framework while working together to build a sustainable, resilient and prosperous future.
The forum underscored the growing momentum in India-Japan economic relations, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to deeper trade, investment, innovation and long-term strategic cooperation.
