Maatrubhumi release set for December 4 as Salman praises co-star
The Maatrubhumi release is scheduled for December 4, with Salman Khan discussing the film and his first screen collaboration with Chitrangada Singh at its trailer launch. The actor praised his co-star's confidence when asked about their working relationship.
Khan said Singh did not bring insecurity to her work. Responding to a question about their chemistry, he used humour before identifying that confidence as a quality he valued in her.
The film's full title is Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace. Apoorva Lakhia directs the project, which was originally announced under the title Battle of Galwan before the makers changed its name.
Visual-effects work contributed to the revised schedule
Explaining the timing of the Maatrubhumi release, Khan said the team needed more time to complete visual effects to its desired standard. The production timetable also required adjustments after Singh sustained an injury.
The film draws inspiration from the 2020 confrontation between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Its material includes accounts from Shiv Aroor's book India's Most Fearless.
Khan portrays Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who commanded the 16 Bihar Regiment during the clash. The officer received the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously, according to the supplied account of the film's background.
The supporting cast includes Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Abhilash Chaudhary. Singh appears in a key role alongside Khan, marking the pair's first film together.
The trailer-launch conversation covered both that new pairing and the production work behind the theatrical date. Khan linked the additional time to the team's visual expectations, with the film now due to arrive in cinemas on December 4.
