Mirra Andreeva Storms Into Maiden French Open Final with Dominant Win Over Marta Kostyuk
Russia's Mirra Andreeva brushed aside Ukraine's Marta Kostyuk 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals of the French Open in Paris on Thursday.
The 19-year-old entered her maiden finaln at Roland Garros and would be bidding for her first Grand Slam title against the winner of the other semi-final between Diana Shnaider and Maja Chwalinska.
Andreeva broke Kostyuk's serve five times to win in just 71 minutes to be the youngest women's finalist at Roland Garros since 2019.
Kostyuk had beaten third seed Iga Swiatek and seventh seed Elina Svitolina on her way to the last four but had no answer to Andreeva's shots from the baseline.
"I'm super happy that I was able to play aggressive," Andreeva said in her post-match press conference.
"I’m just trying to do everything I can on the court, fight, and we'll see. I just tried to focus on the ball that I have to hit and keep 200% of my intensity."
