Mithun Chakraborty Named Bengal Cultural Advisor
BJP leader and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty has been appointed as the Cultural Advisor to the West Bengal government, with a focus on promoting the state’s cultural and film ecosystem.
Speaking about his new role, Chakraborty said the effort would be to “bring back what we have lost.” He highlighted a 30% subsidy being offered to encourage filmmakers from across India to shoot in West Bengal. He also invited filmmakers to explore the state’s diverse locations, including its mountains, coastline and scenic landscapes, while enjoying the unique “romance” of Bengal.
The initiative is aimed at positioning West Bengal as a more attractive destination for film productions and strengthening its presence in India’s entertainment and cultural landscape.
