"India-New Zealand Friendship Has New Momentum": PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a major upgrade in India-New Zealand relations after holding extensive delegation-level talks with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon in Auckland, describing the discussions as "extensive and fruitful."

Sharing the outcome of the meeting on social media, PM Modi said both leaders had agreed to elevate bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership, marking a significant milestone in relations between the two democracies.

He noted that his visit—the first by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in four decades—had added fresh momentum to the growing partnership initiated during PM Luxon's visit to India last year.

The leaders identified trade, technology, investment, agriculture, dairy, and food processing as key pillars of future cooperation. They also strengthened collaboration in healthcare and traditional medicine, while reaffirming their commitment to expanding people-to-people ties.

Highlighting the strategic dimension of the relationship, PM Modi said growing cooperation in defence and security reflects the deep trust between the two nations and pledged to build on this foundation in the years ahead.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to pursue clear goals and concrete outcomes across multiple sectors, signalling a new era of comprehensive engagement between India and New Zealand.
