Narendra Modi Says West Bengal Voting Happening in ‘Fearless Atmosphere’; Predicts Strong Mandate for Developed India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asserted that voters in West Bengal are exercising their democratic rights in a “fearless atmosphere,” a scenario he claimed was unimaginable over the past six to seven decades. Highlighting the significance of the ongoing assembly elections, the Prime Minister said the participation of voters reflects growing confidence in the democratic process. He emphasized that the current environment marks a shift from previous elections, where concerns over intimidation and political violence were often raised. Modi further expressed confidence that the results, scheduled to be announced on May 4, will reinforce the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). According to him, the electoral mandate from West Bengal will contribute to strengthening governance, development, and democratic values across the country. The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid intense political contestation in the state, with all major parties campaigning aggressively to secure a decisive mandate
