Netanyahu Claims Israel Eliminated IRGC Navy Commander Amid Rising Tensions Over Strait of Hormuz

In a significant escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces have successfully eliminated a top naval commander of Iran’s elite military unit. Addressing the media, Netanyahu stated, “We continue to forcefully strike the targets of the Iranian terrorist regime.” He further revealed that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy was killed in a recent operation. According to the Israeli Prime Minister, the targeted commander played a key role in military operations and was allegedly responsible for orchestrating the closure of the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz—a vital global oil transit route. Netanyahu emphasized that the individual had “a great deal of blood on his hands,” underlining Israel’s justification for the strike as part of its broader security operations against Iranian-linked threats. The development comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions between Israel and Iran, with fears growing over potential disruptions to global energy supplies and further military escalation in the region. The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical chokepoint, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments pass daily.
