Haaland scored his fifth goal of the tournament and the 60th of his international career, sealing Norway's hard-fought victory after Ivory Coast had battled back through Amad Diallo's second-half equaliser. Stale Solbakken's men will now face Brazil in the Round of 16 in New York/New Jersey on July 5.

Ivory Coast started brightly and looked dangerous through their wide players. Ghislain Konan tested the Norwegian defence early before Nicolas Pepe missed a golden opportunity after Yan Diomande's pinpoint cross.

Norway broke the deadlock thanks to Antonio Nusa, who produced a moment of brilliance by cutting inside from the left and curling a superb right-footed strike into the far corner for his first goal of the tournament.

Haaland remained closely marked throughout the first half but nearly doubled Norway's lead before the break, only for Ibrahim Sangare to produce a crucial block.

Ivory Coast found renewed energy after Amad Diallo came off the bench. The Manchester United winger combined brilliantly with Nicolas Pepe before weaving through defenders and firing home a superb equaliser to make it 1-1.

However, Haaland once again proved decisive. The prolific striker restored Norway's lead with the winning goal, ensuring his side booked a historic place in the knockout stage.

Deep into stoppage time, Norway goalkeeper Orjan Nyland preserved the victory with an outstanding save from Diallo's curling free-kick that appeared destined for the top corner.

Antonio Nusa was named Player of the Match after scoring Norway's opening goal and delivering an outstanding all-round performance.

Norway now prepare for a blockbuster Round of 16 showdown against Brazil as they continue their memorable FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign.
