In a swift and well-coordinated rescue effort, authorities successfully completed the evacuation of all stranded tourists from Lachen in North Sikkim under Operation Him Setu. A total of 1,321 tourists along with 84 local residents were safely evacuated without any incidents. Connectivity in the affected region had been severely disrupted due to landslides along the Lachen–Chungthang Road. However, swift action by authorities led to the construction of a temporary footbridge, restoring access and enabling continuous evacuation efforts.
