PM Modi Criticizes Campus Climate at Jadavpur University, Raises Concerns Over “Anti-National Activities”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a political rally, launched a sharp critique of the present atmosphere at Jadavpur University, once regarded as a globally respected academic institution.

Highlighting the university’s historical roots, the Prime Minister stated that the campus was founded on the “bedrock of nationalism.” However, he expressed concern over what he described as a significant decline in its environment.

Modi alleged that incidents of threats within the campus, anti-national slogans appearing on walls, and increasing student protests are overshadowing academic pursuits. He remarked that students are being compelled to participate in demonstrations instead of focusing on their studies.

The remarks have reignited political debate around campus politics, freedom of expression, and the role of educational institutions in contemporary India.
