PM Modi Celebrates India's Rise at Melbourne Community Event
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a rousing welcome from the Indian diaspora during a community event in Melbourne, Australia, where he celebrated the growing India-Australia partnership and outlined India's ambitious journey toward becoming a developed nation.

Beginning his address on an emotional note, the Prime Minister invited the audience to switch on their mobile phone flashlights as a tribute to the Premier of Victoria and Australia's Prime Minister. He recalled meeting the Indian community in Sydney on earlier visits and said he had long looked forward to interacting with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Melbourne.

Reflecting on the evolution of bilateral ties, PM Modi noted that his 2014 visit was the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Australia in 28 years. He highlighted that his latest visit marks his third trip to Australia in just 12 years, describing it as a "hat-trick" that reflects the unprecedented strength of India-Australia relations.
The Prime Minister praised the Indian community for maintaining close cultural and emotional ties with India despite living thousands of kilometres away. He spoke about Indian traditions thriving in Australia, from family video calls across time zones to weekend spiritual gatherings and the growing popularity of bhajan culture.
Highlighting India's development journey, PM Modi said the aspirations of 140 crore Indians are driving the country toward becoming the world's third-largest economy.
He emphasised the mantra of "Grow more. Achieve more." as the guiding force behind India's economic transformation.
The Prime Minister also showcased India's achievements in science and technology, pointing to the successful Chandrayaan mission to the Moon's south pole and announcing future ambitions, including the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission and the development of an Indian space station.
Speaking about manufacturing and innovation, PM Modi said that "Make in India" has become a global brand, with Indian-made mobile phones, automobiles and defence products gaining worldwide recognition. He also referred to Operation Sindoor, stating that India's decisive action against terrorist camps demonstrated the country's growing defence capabilities.
On the innovation front, the Prime Minister highlighted India's thriving startup ecosystem, noting that the country now has more than 200,000 registered startups, with over 4,000 new ventures being added every month. He added that India's expanding private space sector is preparing for the country's first privately launched satellite mission.
Concluding his address, PM Modi said India's journey is powered by ambition, innovation and global partnerships, while expressing confidence that the Indian diaspora will continue to strengthen the enduring friendship between India and Australia
