Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga won the Gold medal in Men’s 67kg weightlifting. India’s second gold at Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.
19-yr old Jeremy Lalrinnunga from Mizoram won Gold on his debut at Commonwealth Games , winning 2nd Gold and 5th Medal for India at Birmingham.
Indomitable Jeremy Lalrinnunga creates history by capturing a gold medal with a record-breaking combined lift of 300 kg in the men’s 67 kg final.
PM Narendra Modi congratulated teenager Jeremy Lalrinnunga, after the Mizoram weightlifter created a new Commonwealth Games record by picking up a combined weight of 300kg on way to winning India’s second gold medal at the 2022 CWG in Birmingham. It was a dominating show of strength by the 19-year-old, who picked up 140kg in snatch and 160kg in clean and jerk.
This is India’s fifth medal from weightlifting at CWG 2022 and second gold after Mirabai Chanu’s on Saturday.
In a tweet PM Modi said ,”Our Yuva Shakti is creating history! Congratulations to @raltejeremy, who has won a Gold in his very first CWG and has set a phenomenal CWG record as well. At a young age he’s brought immense pride and glory. Best wishes to him for his future endeavours”.
