PM Modi Strengthens India-Australia Economic Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed the Australia-India CEOs Forum in Melbourne, reaffirming the shared commitment to strengthening economic and investment ties between India and Australia.

During his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted India's strong economic growth, stable policy environment and reform-driven business ecosystem, positioning the country as one of the world's most attractive investment destinations. He emphasized that India offers significant opportunities for global businesses backed by rapid digital transformation, infrastructure expansion and innovation-led development.

Inviting Australian companies to become partners in India's growth journey, the Prime Minister identified manufacturing, clean energy, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, fintech, infrastructure and the digital economy as key sectors for collaboration. He stressed that India's vast market and Australia's technological expertise and resources create a mutually beneficial partnership capable of driving long-term economic growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the natural economic complementarities between India and Australia while urging the early conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA). He called on businesses from both countries to deepen collaboration in strategic sectors such as critical minerals, semiconductors, electric vehicles (EVs), and defence. The Prime Minister also encouraged Indian states and Australian provinces to strengthen sub-national economic partnerships to unlock new investment and trade opportunities.

The interaction with business leaders at the Australia-India CEOs Forum reflects the growing strategic and economic partnership between the two nations, with both governments committed to expanding trade, investment and innovation-driven cooperation.
