India’s medal tally at the Commonwealth Games 2026 received another boost as weightlifter Rishikanta Singh Chanambam clinched a Silver Medal in the men’s 60kg category at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow.
The Manipur lifter’s standout performance delivers India its second medal of the 2026 Games following a fiery contest on the platform.

In the Clean & Jerk discipline, Rishikanta demonstrated remarkable composure and technical consistency to secure his podium finish.He lifted a total of 264kg - 121kg in snatch and 143 in clean & jerk.The 121kg snatch also marked a Games record for Rishikantha
With Malaysia’s Aniq Kasdan lifting strongly to capture the gold, Rishikanta executed his attempts under immense pressure to hold off the rest of the field and confirm the Silver medal for India.
Hailing from Imphal West, Manipur, Rishikanta has developed through the Indian Army's sports program. His medal in Glasgow follows his gold-medal display at the 2025 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships in Ahmedabad, cementing his reputation as one of the nation's premier lifters in the lighter weight classes.
